Thoughts on Our Training for the Ministry of Intercession
BY REV. ANDREW MURRAY
In this book Murray examines various prayer related topics, including praying to the father, praying in secret, the Holy Spirit and prayer, importunity, faith, fasting, forgiving, praying together with another, etc.
Smith Effective Prayer Life
This module is a seven chapter work on Effective Prayer Life by Chuck Smith from the Calvary Chapel Church movement. I cannot recommend it 100%.
I cannot say that the Calvary Chapel movement is 100% in agreement with the Bible. See my post about Calvary Chapel, The Problems with the Calvary Chapel Movement or here Chuck Smith and Calvary Chapel Movement.
This particular book may be a very good book on prayer, but you should be very wary of it in consideration of the warnings on Chuck Smith and that movement.
Whyte Lord, Teach us to Pray is a 23 chapter on Prayer, investigating the meaning of Luke 11:1 Lord teach us to pray.
The Manual of Intercessory Prayer

At first glance (me being Protestant), I would say that I dislike the idea of “canned prayers” altogether. After reading through some of these prayers though, I began to realize that Benson focuses this work on assembling preciously worded prayers for every occasion. I think the meaningless repetition of prayer is useless and a sin, but I must admit that some of these prayers are nicely worded for public services or for certain occasions when “you just don’t know how to pray for somebody.” See 117 A Prayer for Lunatics for example. Excellent little prayer. Continue reading
Anderson, T. – Prayer Availeth Much is a good book on prayer. It explores the different aspects of prayer and the believer before God.
